HSS Hire is the UK's original tool and equipment hire company. We've been around since 1957, when Bert Taylor lent his sister a ladder and decided it could be a good business opportunity......seems he was right! Today, we work with big businesses, trade and DIY customers alike but over 90% of HSS turnover is actually from business to business activity.

HSS has an established nationwide network of almost 250 locations including a number of massive supercentres with extended opening hours. We have an extensive range of tools, equipment, plant and specialist kit that is robust, well-maintained and always ready to use, delivered by a knowledgeable team of technical and safety experts.

The core business is still the hire of quality tools and equipment but, as we’ve grown, there's now much more to it than that too. We've introduced a clever range of services, support programmes and business propositions to help make life easier and make sure we offer our customers the very best in the industry.

We run a dedicated training business to ensure customers have the technical know-how they need to use our equipment safely. Our OneCall service means we can source almost anything, anywhere in the world whilst our HSS Resource partnership means we can even help with the hire of labour.

We offer full managed equipment plans through HSS Assured, a back-of-van equipment exchange programme with HSS Pitstop and a ‘have your own HSS branch’ option with HSS Onsite.

We’ve also introduced HSS LiveHire, a revolutionary online business management tool which we think is the simply most powerful tool the hire industry has ever seen. It offers customers complete transparency of their hire portfolio and puts control firmly in their hands.

And we do all this with a real commitment to the well being of our customers, our local communities and the environment. We are accredited to recognised standards; we offer discounted hire rates to all registered charities and we encourage our entire business to get involved in our community volunteering programme.

We hold Investors in People status and are currently the only tool and equipment hire company with a 4 star British Safety Council award. We were also the Hire Association Europe’s Hire Company of the Year and Contract Journal’s Plant Hire Company of the Year in 2009.
